Weekend Getaway to Richmond, Virginia for Lovers

My husband and I took our first road trip to Virginia for us to visit our closest friends. It was the first time in years that we saw each other. Every three-day weekend, I try to suggest that we go somewhere new, so this was also husband’s first time in a new city. Previously we have done Atlanta on a couple of occasions. This trip was the first road trip together further than 3 hours or 500 miles.

Here’s what we did over the three-day weekend:

Since it was the Fourth of July holiday weekend, there were lots of food and cookouts!

Triple date night to movies - we went to see a 3D movie

Women get to be with the ladies - we all know girls just want to have fun!

Gambian wives! 😂

Men get to be with their boys - as a bonus, they’ve all known each other since childhood, so I’m sure they had lots to talk about!

It was also a chance for hubby to meet an elder family member of mine, which was also my first time seeing them in a while.

It’s always a good idea to have a weekend getaway with your significant other once in a while.

You don’t have to be stressed or with each other, all the time. One of the things that I noticed about my husband and me married to each other is that it’s literally that - we barely get the opportunity to spend time with another familiar face after seeing each other every day for months.

Re-spark your marriage with that time apart! Usually, time apart makes the heart grow fonder.
