Aspire to Inspire Guest Interview with Kimberly Marie

Each week the answers are getting shorter and sweeter. If you are new here, I have begun a series called Aspire to Inspire since January where I feature young, Black and Hispanic Women who travel while running their own businesses. This week our interviewee is Kimberly Clements. She is a visual brand strategist that helps lady bosses and professional bloggers like myself that want to build irresistible 6-figure brands. She enjoys wine, coffee, and exotic beaches. Let’s get inspired!

Tell us about yourself. What do you do?

I'm a web and brand stylist at HNIK Creative and I help lady bosses who want to build irresistible 6-figure brands.

Very nice! What city do you hail from and what do you like most about your hometown?

I'm from Long Beach, California and I like the laid-back, eclectic vibe and [cultural] diversity.

I can dig it. What is your favorite place to travel to in the world and why?

My favorite place to travel to is Mexico. I've been all over Mexico and each city and state I've been to has its own individual vibe. I love that it's close enough to home so that I can make it a quick getaway. It feels far away enough like I'm in a completely different world. It's beautiful and I feel like a lot of people don't appreciate it. It's an amazing place to travel to.

Why do you think it is important to travel?

It's important to see how people live. It's interesting to learn about the different cultures.

Here’s a hard question. What do you want your legacy to be?

[I want my legacy to be that I] created a life I love that's on my own terms.

Lastly, what piece of advice would you like to share with those who want to travel but aren't sure how to?

I would tell them that experiences trump everything. Make a list of all of the places you want to visit. Skip going out to eat all the time, skip Starbucks, and set money aside to travel at least once a year. Start by visiting somewhere that is a couple of hours by plane and then graduate up to your dream destination.

Well, there you have it! Short and sweet, right? Thank you so much, Kim!
