As a part of my series, every month I interview a female blogger of color who is doing the dang thing!
Tiffany Heard is one of few bloggers that I have met and connected with in person! She didn’t say this, but she also married a West African, like me! Read on to learn more about her and her blog.
Tell us about yourself. What do you do?
My name is Tiffany Heard. During the day I am a Social Worker. I currently work with African American women who are expecting or have children. Outside of my professional career, I have many hobbies and interest. I recently started a travel blog called Sweet Tiffy's Inspirations where I write about my domestic and international travels. Also, I love acting and have recently been in several stage plays.
What city do you hail from and what do you like most about your hometown?
I am from Los Angeles, California or more specifically Watts California. My favorite thing about living here is the weather. We have pretty great weather and don’t have a distinction between seasons. I also lived in D.C. for several years, and I enjoyed the diversity of people and variety of things to do and place to go.
Where were your favorite places to travel to in the world and why?
My favorite trip has been to the motherland or more specifically Ghana located in West Africa. I completed a short study abroad for six weeks. I traveled with girls who have become great friends ten years later. I fell in love with the culture, food, people, clothes, experiences and I couldn’t help but notice the great looking men.
Why do you think it is important to travel?
The world is so much larger than the city or even the neighboring state that you live in. It also allows you to test your limits. There are things that I've seen and done on vacation that I would not do in my hometown. I feel even more adventurous when I travel.
What do you want your legacy to be?
I want to be an inspiration to others and help them accomplish things they may want to do but are afraid to do. Sometimes people need a smile, encouraging word or someone to give them a push to be the best person they can be.
Anything else you would like to add for those who want to travel but aren't sure how to?
I would advise people to start saving for travel; put money aside from each check for at least a year. After saving the desired amount of money needed, pick a destination and have fun. Also do not wait for others to travel with you, if you wait for others you could be waiting for a long time.
