Tell us about yourself. What do you do?
Technology is my first love, outside of blogging. I work full time for a software company and have a background in Web Development and Microsoft Exchange Administration.
What city do you hail from and what do you like most about your hometown?
I'm a native New Yorker, born and raised in Queens. I love that Queens, in general, is nicknamed "The World's Borough" and I can find food, events, and people from all over the world there.
Where were your favorite places to travel to in the world and why?
Curacao was my first solo trip. I was initially nervous, but it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I've since planned three solo trips.
Traveling to Greece was my first time Europe. I've been fascinated with Greek mythology history since elementary school, so seeing ruins that I've read in books up close was an amazing experience.
Why do you think it is important to travel?
I've always been a fan of history and culture. You can read all the books in the world, but travel and experience open your mind to learning something new. It also gives you the opportunity to meet new people.
What do you want your legacy to be?
I want people to know that I didn't let fear or even people stop me from traveling. I know we're out there, but I rarely see single African-American women traveler, and I like to show on my platform that it is possible AND you don't have to break the bank to do it either.
Anything else you would like to add for those who want to travel but aren't sure how to?
Research and planning help a lot. Visit tourism boards online, go to travel expos, read travel blogs and join social groups related to travel. Once you've gathered enough information, create a budget, go, take tons of pictures and enjoy!
